Overherd Review – The Brand
If you are trying to be a sustainable person, you must be aware of where and what you are supporting with your money. And so, the first thing I personally check out is the brand. My first impression of the official website of Overherd was “damn, that’s a cool website”! I love the way they have articulated all of their ideas, reasonings, and marketing into a simpler but a cool conversation model (Gen Z approved👍🏻). Simple but clear reasoning behind their efforts and honestly it makes sense. When we purchase one pack of oat milk powder from overherd, it makes 8 liters of milk.
That is 8 fewer milk cartons and plastics, 91% less packaging weight, 10x less CO2 emissions, and less wastage. Another interesting fact about this brand is that founders have thought through the end-to-end journey of their products. While they supply the products in fully recyclable LDPE plastic pouches, it is still plastic. But the differentiation is, that they also advise on how to dispose of the empty pouches. Furthermore, they are making efforts to move away from plastics altogether. Launched in January 2023, the Overherd brand sells mainly powdered oat milk on a subscription basis. This gluten-free, organic oat milk powder is available to buy in 2 sizes – 4 liters and 8 liters. You can get them individually, or as a starter pack with includes powdered oat milk (4 or 8 liters), a 600ml glass bottle, and a recycled bamboo scoop. Neat! Apart from the powdered oat milk, they also sell brand merch such as oat milk cap, oat milk T-shirt, and oat milk Tote bag – all made from 100% organic cotton, and the 600ml glass bottle.

Now for the main part, the powdered Overherd oat milk product review. In the following sections, I will touch base on the product ingredients, packaging, pricing, and my personal experience, before giving the final verdict.

- Oats – Obviously! This Oat Milk powder contains 68% organic gluten-free oats which are naturally rich in minerals and vitamins.
- Coconut – The product includes coconut Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) powder (modified starch), which provides creaminess and healthy fats. MCT, for those who are unaware, helps with insulin resistance, weight loss, and waist loss.
- Chicory – Chicory root provides smoothness and prebiotic fiber goodness to help with digestion.
- Nutrients – Overherd oat milk powder is fortified with Calcium and Vitamin B12 for strong bones.
- And that’s it. Quite a small, but impressive list!

The Overherd oat milk powder was delivered to my doorstep in a brown cardboard box sealed with branded paper tape. Quite impressed that this brand has gone the extra mile to achieve sustainability in every possible way. A simple, planet-first approach to cause a stir. Within the simple cardboard box was a cute pink pouch of oat milk powder, a 600ml glass bottle, and a bamboo scoop. An appealing pink fully recyclable LDPE pouch with a ziplock that seals in the goodness, I must say.

Overherd sells oat milk powder in two sizes – 4 litres and 8 litres. The 4 liters pack is available for one-time purchase at £6.99 or can be bought at £5.99 on a subscription basis whereas 8 liters pack costs £12.99 (one-time purchase) or £10.99 (subscription). Here’s a quick math. Popular oat milk brands retail their fresh whole oat milk for a minimum of £2/litre at Tescos and Sainsbury. In comparison, Overherd costs £1.74/liter for a 4-liter pack and £1.62/liter for an 8-liter pack. That’s roughly £0.15 (minimum) saved per liter you chug in one-time purchases and 4/8 milk cartons less. If you opt for subscription packs, the savings are far higher.

Overherd Oat Milk Powder – My Experience
As mentioned before, I got the starter pack in the 4-litre size. Overherd oat milk powder is beige in colour with fine texture, and pleasant oats-coconutty smell. At first, I was skeptical of the product and made a small batch of 200ml oat milk with 2 scoops of the powder (just I like it creamy). And to my surprise, it tasted just fine. Smooth, creamy, and fresh oat milk with a hint of sweetness, which comes from the oats naturally. Later on, I went crazy and experimented with so many different things. Obviously to test its versatility!
My word, that oat milk made with Overherd oat milk powder goes a long way. I went from making tea, coffee, and smoothies to cakes, cookies, and curries with this oat milk powder. Since I am not an avid milk drinker, the 4-liter pack lasted me almost 6 weeks. It is very economical and easy to use. Not to mention the convenience, especially when traveling or trekking.
It’s lightweight, instantly but freshly made which tastes good. The glass bottle is very handy with milliliter markings and leak-proofing. All you need to do is scoop the powder into the bottle, add water, close the lid, and shake, shake, shake. The powder blends into milk and forths just by handshaking. No blender or electricity is needed!
Another advantage I noticed was the space-saving inside the fridge, which is brilliant. I don’t have to spend electricity and fridge space to keep oat milk refrigerated throughout. The oat milk powder can be stored in a cool dry place for 4-5 months once opened. Only the leftover milk, if any, needs refrigeration. Also, very low wastage. Since I am making the oat milk for the quantity I need, the chances of having leftovers and wastage are extremely low.
