The much-awaited Skoda Vision IN concept made it’s debut yesterday at the Auto Expo 2020. It previews the upcoming Skoda’s new sub-compact SUV which will compete with KIA’s Seltos, Hyundai’s Creta, Volkswagen’s Taigun and Nissan Kicks.
It is the first Skoda model to be built on India-specific MQB A0-IN platform which delivers high-ground clearance, a big bonnet and with Indian standard emission requirements. Volkswagen’s Taigun – big brother of skoda also sharing the same platform.
According to Skoda’s Global CEO Bernhard Maier, “The Vision IN is 90 percent of what the production car will look like”. It is expected to be launched as a production model in early 2021 and the company is planning to manufacture this entirely in india.
Vision IN is powered with BS6-compliant 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 150hp and 250Nm of torque with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Skoda also claims that the Vision IN concept can do the 0-100 kmph sprint in 8.7 seconds and has a top speed of 195 kmph.
As for the exterior specs, the Vision IN gets Skoda’s classic bold grille with sleek LED headlamps with DRLs and fog lamps placed closed to it. On the rear, the Vision IN gets inverted L-shaped LED tail lights and the Skoda nameplate across the bootlid. It also gets 19-inch alloys.
Inside, the Vision IN gets 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and orange accents all over the cabin. Its prices are expected to range between Rs 15-19 lakhs.
