5 Strong Reasons Why yYou Should Study Abroad

    Last Updated

WHY SHOULD I DO MY MASTERS'S ABROAD?
    HOW SHOULD I PROCEED?
WHAT ARE THE THINGS I SHOULD CONSIDER WHILE APPLYING?

I’ve been getting these questions since I’ve moved to the UK for my master’s. To answer all your questions, in short, studying abroad is considered one of the best ways to master yourself. However, some might be working and don’t want to come out of the comfort zone and some are quite hesitant to proceed further because of the cost of studying abroad, homesick and other personal reasons, etc. Hence, I’ve decided to share my experience as a series of posts. So without further ado, let me bring you the study abroad guide: 5 reasons why you should study your master’s abroad.

#1 SET YOURSELF APART FROM THE REST

High-quality education is also one of the important reason why you should consider studying abroad. Even though we have a good number of premier educational institutions in our country, it is an undeniable truth that countries like the US, UK, Germany, Singapore, Australia, etc. have many universities renowned for their excellent facilities, industry connections and funding. Securing a post-graduate degree at a foreign institution will also distinguish you from your competitors because of the very fact that you’ve left your comfort zone, which displays your self-reliance and adaptability in comparison to those who studied locally.

In addition, anyone can state that they “love to travel”, “can relocate” in their resume. But your study abroad experience will not only stand out from the crowd but also get you ahead of other applicants as you have already transplanted yourself into a foreign culture, language, socializing far away from home.

    #2 BOOST YOUR CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Talking about the main reason for getting a degree abroad in the first place is to improve your career prospects. It gives you the chance to explore the foreign job market where opportunities are generally more rewarding🤑. I hope I’ll be able to land a suitable role in a prestigious company and earn some rewards too🤑🤑. Even if takes some time, you are welcome to stay back, find a job and work with a post-study work visa.

Countries like the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, etc. fall under this list. However, some countries don’t provide you with enough time to settle and look for an opportunity there. Hence, I would recommend you to go for detailed research on stay back options while choosing the country.

Furthermore, having an international study experience will give you an advantage when it comes time to apply to jobs. Employers value your adaptability and flexibility that you’ll develop from going overseas.

    #3 ENHANCE YOUR NETWORK CONNECTIONS

Studying abroad will help you build invaluable friendships with people from all over the world. You will be able to live, learn, and travel together during your studies. Unfortunately, I haven’t experienced this so far as I’m still under lockdown since my arrival 6 months ago😕.

Aside from the personal connections, friends are also a great way to establish networking opportunities which could be beneficial for your future. Who knows, you might even meet your new business partner there. Having a wide network is an advantage, since your friends will most likely be the ones to help you when you need a job.

#4 DISCOVER NEW CULTURES, LANGUAGES, AND FOOD

In the fast-moving modern world, cross-cultural communication is evolving as one of the vital skills, and the individuals who possess it are in high demand. It requires real-life experience to gain this skill and cannot be learned from textbooks. Studying abroad will give you the opportunity to explore the other cultures in-depth. Learning a new language is always a challenge. But there is no better place than learning it from the place where it is spoken natively. Developing your language skills can have a positive impact on your career which may lead you into some job opportunities.

Yeah. You got it. F🤤🤤D. Visiting a new country will give you the opportunity to try new cuisines you may have tried before. Talking from my experience, you can only taste the traditional foods’ authentic taste in the native countries. If you find any taste difference in your ramen or tacos in the native country, well, that’s because your country people messed it up by adding extra toppings or flavourings.

    #5 DISCOVER YOURSELF

Last but not least, If you would like to truly find yourself, studying abroad will show you other hidden ways of life, while also forcing you to make more conscious decisions in the present. It may also bring out your undiscovered talents and interests. Whether it’s skiing, water sports, hiking, dancing, stage performances, etc. you can try out things you may have never got the chance to try back home.

To wrap it all up, becoming independent is a challenge. But living and studying in another country will mould you into an independent and adventurous adult🧗🏻‍♂️, ready to succeed in your future. These are only a few of the reasons why you should study abroad. But I’m sure that you will discover your own once you’ve gone abroad.
